Percy Schmeiser beat Monsanto

Percy Schmeiser won!

I’ve been following the blackhat agriculturists for awhile now. Particularly ADM and Monsanto. I was so pissed off at what they did to this farmer (and others: almost 200 farmers have been made to pay millions to Monsanto) that I was thrilled to hear that he beat Monsanto.

Forget about our boys on the Malabar front.

This—is a true hero.

Monsanto accused him of illegally planting their patented suicide seeds (“suicide” because they don’t produce seeds, so one has to keep buying from Monsanto, and “patented” because yes, Monsanto has patented life forms). They also accused him of not “paying for the privilege”.

Privilege? You destroyed his crops. Then you legally harassed him. Then you say having your seeds is a “privilege”? Who the fuck wants your suicide seeds? Yes it’s such a privilege to be 100% dependent on YOUR seeds. The fact is, he didn’t want your seeds. He didn’t plant them. And honestly I am not convinced that you didn’t trespass and contaminate his canola on purpose. After all, from the articles I remember reading, they first learned about the contamination because somebody went onto his property. And I doubt they had permission to do so. I’d actually like to know the story behind that.

I intend to write more about this when I can. For now, here’s this:

A Farmer Rounds Up Monsanto.

And… is Tom Vilsack—the man Obama appointed as Secretary of Agriculture—in bed with Monsanto?

Congratulations Percy, you did it!

I wonder if Monsanto will “find” more “unauthorized” Roundup Ready garbage after HR 875 passes.

From what I’ve been reading, Mexico is having major concerns with GMO-contaminated crops starting to show up in their native stocks. The mutant plants out-compete the natural ones, and take over.

Noble, I recently learned that Monsanto hires private detectives to go after farmers. So basically what I think happened is that they sent in their PI’s. I bet that’s how they got onto Percy’s property.

Evidently, they’re every bit as litigious as the scientologists. They’ve got it down to a fine art. They know that ppl don’t like to go to court.

It really sucks to find out that so much of our world has been and is shaped by litigiousness that has eternal stamina and vigilance. But–that does seem to be the case.

Another unfortunate thing is that not everyone has the resources that Percy may have had.

I saw the vid (including Percy) on your site, it was great.
