Re my last: it’s not just the gallery, the widgets are broken, too. Can’t add widgets anymore because, just as in the case of NextGen Gallery, the drag and drop doesn’t work anymore, and there’s no alternate way to add widgets and galleries. At least not known to me at this time.
We’ve tried it on three different computers and browsers, the widgets in the column simply will not be moved to the sidebar.
I’m still researching the problem. This sucks major ass.
Oh, the “choose from the most used tags” link is also not working.
are you running it at wordpress.com? hosting your own is the way to go, if you can swing it.
@ mark baard:
Hey! No we’re hosting it, Steven set it up for me. After it was initially installed I just took it from there, tried to figure things out on my own. Can usually find the answers right away but this one’s taking a little longer.
You run wp, yeah? If you have the latest version, maybe you could try adding a widget and see if you have the same problem. Don’t remove any though because somehow I removed some and was unable to move them back! Weird.
@ Polly:
Are you running the latest version of wordpress? Also have you tried reinstalling the widgets and/or plugins you removed?
i figured you’d be hosting yourself, given steve’s expertise. i’ll try tossing in a widget… for you it’s ANY widget? good luck, i feel your pain.
also: did you try hitting your computer, once or twice?
@ Carl:
Hey pal! Yeah, I’m afraid so. Eep!
@ mark baard:
Yeah it seems to be any widget. I actually went and tried to drag everything and anything over to the sidebar… nothing. In a little while I’m going to try to do everything exactly right: deactivate all the plugins, THEN uninstalling NextGen… then reinstalling it that way. I’ll let you guys know if I get it resolved. I’m hoping it’s just something on my end, and not a broken wp, cuz I like wp.
It may even be a plugin conflict, because I do try a few plugins occasionally.
@ Polly:
Have you tried a different theme? I would switch the theme and see if maybe something in the current theme is broken. Worth a try.
Well? Did it work?? :-P
@ Carl:
I tried it and it still doesn’t work. But hey, now my child pages show up in the menu! Well I only have one but since it wasn’t visible I forgot about it.
Steven just found out that some of the plugins for wp conflict in a manner that disables the drag n drop somehow. So what we’re going to do is disable all of them, then turn them on one by one to see which one might be causing the problem.
I really want to get it to work. Cuz it’s the best gallery I know of for wp. For all the features it has; it’s just very customizable and I like that.
I got it working again! I’m a happy girl.
Thanks to everybody who helped!
