I haven’t smoked a cigarette in one month. Go me! (Yay…) I’ll be glad to have fingernails again.

What a scam

Way to go atheist Rob Sherman!

“An atheist is suing to force the administrators of a towering cross in southern Illinois to return a $20,000 state grant toward its restoration, saying Thursday it was ‘blatantly unconstitutional’ to spend taxpayer money on a Christian symbol.”

Pastor Steve McKeown, the “administrator of the cross” (what ever that means) said, “What Mr. Sherman wants is a United States that’s free from religion. Our founding fathers never meant that to be the case.”

Oh really? (As I’ve always said, “freedom of” necessarily means “freedom from”.) But let’s have a look at what Jefferson and Madison may have thought:

“…to compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical…” —Thomas Jefferson’s draft for a bill on religious freedom, which Madison helped pass into Virginia law in 1779; this Virginia statute was the model for the establishment clause which, among other things, guarantees our right to have many gods, any gods, or no gods.

Next?

Hey, Slick, how about you give back the $20,000 that’s being wasted on your unconstitutional/illegal religious renovation efforts so that society can put it to sane use: like homes for those who don’t have anywhere to live. Things like that.

You guys are just scams. This is a big scam and we, the public, are suffering for it.

Thanks Noble for bringing this to my attention.

Outraged when it happened, I posted and quoted the California Constitution:

“A citizen or class of citizens may not be granted privileges or immunities not granted on the same terms to all citizens.”

Equal enjoyment of rights. It’s not that difficult, a child can grasp it.

“That the majority of California voters supported Proposition 8 is irrelevant, as fundamental rights may not be submitted to [a] vote; they depend on the outcome of no elections.” —West Virginia State Board of Education v Barnette, 319 US 624, 638 (1943)

What have I been saying since Prop H8 was passed? That you cannot vote on basic rights.

I was disgusted that so many ppl did not realize that everything can’t be voted on. Time and again ppl were telling me, “well it was voted in!” as if that were the appropriate determining factor, no matter what the item in question was.

They don’t think it through.

I even gave the analogy “What if the majority voted in favor of a proposition to return blacks to slavery. Should that then happen, solely because the majority voted it in?”

They still didn’t get it. And I felt lonely and outraged.

Prop 8′s and my analogy’s requirements to pass are identical:

That you throw out the idea and spirit of equal enjoyment of rights (to all)—and introduce and accept the notion that fundamental rights can be so easily subverted by simply polling the majority of dimwits that make up most populations.

I feel vindicated.

Thank you Federal Judge Vaughn Walker.

I quit, she quit

I haven’t had a cigarette since the 27th. I’m done, son.

I’m doing it for Larry; for all who love me and of course for me. And money.

Weasel died Friday. Oral tumor. We’re all very sad. Steve-o and I took good care of her but it was very hard. I slept with her every night toward the end. We buried her out by Miss Prancypants and the others, by Mama’s garden. The rock is there as a placeholder till we can find her a proper marker. I wanted to get her blue-eyed grass—because of Weasel’s pretty blue eyes—but they didn’t have any.

I thought these little darklings (violas) would do. They remind me of Pablo Neruda’s damp violets.

And how fortunate am I, to have known this sweet being. RIP BABY!

In December ’08 I posted a video about Bugliosi’s book “The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder” here. (Truly awesome.)

I bought Dad the audio version (failing vision) and he sent it to me after he “read” it. I’d read Helter Skelter and Outrage years ago, so I was already aware of how awesome Bugliosi is.

Today I learned that his “Prosecution of George W. Bush…” has been made into a movie! It’s due out February of next year. I’m happy as hell.

Here’s a trailer:

Hot damn. I hope Vincent gets the support he needs for this endeavor. If I were rich I’d be his benefactor.

Gallery Comments / RR

Not happy with my gallery. The problem is, one can’t comment on a single photo or even a single gallery. If you leave a comment on any photo or gallery—it’ll show up on ALL photos and galleries.

Unacceptable. I will find a way to fix that. Meantime, if you’re not specific in your comments I have no idea what photo or gallery you might be commenting on.

I don’t know if I want to add a five star rating system or not. Probably not. It shouldn’t be that easy for you to dislike my shit. I prefer forcing you to actually comment to tell me I suck. You don’t get off with just one click. You’ll have to contend with me I guess.

Haven’t been logging on to Facebook as much. It just really, really sucks over there. All the quizzes, for one (and I like quizzes). I wouldn’t mind them so much if everyone would occasionally post something other than that.

Also, it shouldn’t be notifying me via email that someone “also” commented on something, when I have not commented on it! But no, they want you to be notified, even if you just hit “like” and did not comment at all. So at least in this respect, Facebook doesn’t distinguish between “comment” and “like”.

Well. I didn’t like.

Elsewise, I found a neat resource: RR_LiveAudio.

That’s “Radio Reference” if you’re not a scanner head. Follow their tweets and the next time news is being made, you might be able to listen to the live radio chatter as it happens. This was the case re the Balloonboy. It was very interesting listening to what was going on as it happened.

I wouldn’t mind providing a feed to RR, but someone’s already providing coverage for my county. It’s pretty awesome.
