Moon over McKinleyville

The moon last night was gorgeous. I was too cold and sick to stay out there to try to get better photos. But I’m satisfied, seeing as how I did it without a tripod. I still remember to wait till you breathe out (our stillest moment) to trip the shutter, so all of it’s coming back quite nicely, especially as I learn this new camera. It was an awesome gift, thank you Noble.

Sagan/Turner interview

Ted Turner interviews Carl Sagan.

Highlights… Sagan talks about nuclear winter, war, rich ppl, extraterrestrial life, time travel, etc.

At the time of this interview, we were #19 in infant mortality. So, eighteen other countries care about their babies more than we do.

O I know we like to yammer on about how much we Americans love our kids, but mostly it’s hot air. Because if we truly did, we would put our money where our gigantic American mouths are.

I’ve never seen anyone yammer on so much as we, about something they purportedly care about so god damn much, only to turn around and disprove with their actions everything that just came out of their mouths.

One thing I liked about this interview is the wording Sagan used when talking about our failure as a society to take care of our own… he said we “chose” to have homeless ppl. And yeah, we did and do.
